HISTORY & MEMORY

This week you will create a Double Exposure photograph. A Double Exposure photograph before the rise of digital cameras was when the film in the camera would get stuck and one would accidentally take another photo on top of the last. Thus doubling the exposure of that piece of film to light.

You will recreate this with two photos that you take. Each of the photos should be taken around the same time as the each other creating the illusion of double exposing the film.

The theme for this piece is Memory & History. This can be expressed any way you like. For example you may want to use a photo of a person with a very clean background, sky, ocean. Then superimose an image that shows what they are thinking about or a historical photo.

You can use ONE image from your/their/its past as an addition to the piece. For example you could photograph the old gas staion in goleta and then superimpose the image of it in all its glory when it was first built.

How you blend the two images is what your grade will be based on. Both images must be high quality and photographed intentionally for this project.

Please watch the video below to learn how to use Photoshop for the iPad to do this project.
