IDENTITY
Assignment:
We are each many things.
Our identity is multifaceted and distinctly our own. It is a function of where we've come from, our vertical identity: our parents, race, gender, age, socioeconomic status and so on.
Our identity is also shaped by what we’ve developed: those skills and interests into which we’ve poured our 10,000 hours, and often (but not always) shows up in our vocation.
But it’s not just our past or our work that defines us, we can also have as our identity those things we dream as possible, sometimes labeled as horizontal identity because it is what pulls us into the future.
And as we grow and adapt, that identity shifts also.
So you will tell the story of someone's identity. This could be the story of their interests, goals, life, love, etc. This is not a self portrait, so please do not tell your own story (we will do this later). You will not be allowed to have anything that is too graphic or inappropriate for your age/illegal. Please try and understand that this is a college class taught at a high school.
You can use techniques like motion blur, or use light to create a high key or low key image, or photograph through something, like glass, with words/media/imagery on it. I think you get it.
What to Turn in:
You will submit anywhere from 1 to 3 photos that tell the story of some one's identity.
You can shoot in black and white or color
You must use a unique perspective and make an interesting composition
